Glacier Downs RedPocket in First Ever Matchup
KALISPELL, Mont. — The Glacier Range Riders made history Tuesday night at Glacier Bank Park, earning their first-ever victory over the RedPocket Mobiles with a 9-2 win in the clubs' inaugural meeting.
Donovan Ratfield paced the offense with a three-hit night, going 3-for-4 with singles in the fourth, sixth, and eighth innings as Glacier improved its strong start to the homestand.
The Mobiles struck first in the opening inning, taking advantage of an infield hit to grab a 1-0 lead. Glacier answered immediately in the bottom half when Carson Hornung laced a triple to center field, bringing home the tying run.
The Range Riders moved in front for good in the second inning. Carson Garner drove in a run with a groundout before Drew Collins lined an RBI single into right-field, extending the lead to 3-1.
Glacier added another run in the third when Garner worked a bases-loaded walk, making it 4-2.
The decisive blow came in the fourth inning. Jake Millan launched a full-count, three-run home run to right field, capping the frame and pushing the Range Riders' advantage to 7-2. Millan finished with a team-high three RBIs.
The Glacier pitching staff took over from there. Starter Cole Cressend allowed two runs, just one earned, across three innings while striking out four. Ryan Humphreys earned the win in relief, tossing two scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Jacob Hasty, Jack Maruskin, and Lance Wade combined for four scoreless innings to close out the victory.
The Range Riders showed patience at the plate throughout the night, drawing nine walks. Hornung and Jacob Steele each reached twice via walk, while Alex Fernandes stole two bases as part of a four-steal effort by Glacier.
Ratfield led Glacier with three hits, while Millan drove in three runs and Hornung supplied more firepower with his first-inning triple.
RedPocket Mobiles managed just seven hits in the contest, with Justin Johnson going 2-for-4. Jordan Harrison-Dudley and Spence Coffman each recorded an RBI, while Braylon Bishop drew two walks and stole three bases.
With the victory, the Range Riders claimed the first meeting in franchise history between Glacier and the RedPocket Mobiles, opening the series with a convincing 9-2 win at Glacier Bank Park.
