Rover Helps Sends Glacier Over the Voyagers
FLATHEAD VALLEY, Mont. - The Glacier Range Riders improved to 8-2 on the season and stay in a tie for first place in the Pioneer League with a 7-4 victory over the Great Falls Voyagers on Friday night at Glacier Bank Park.
Tommy Rover led the offensive attack, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Rover singled in the third and fifth innings before providing a key insurance blast to right field in the eighth.
The bottom third of the Range Riders lineup proved pivotal in the win, as Donovan Ratfield, Rover, and Drew Collins combined for six of Glacier's nine hits, three runs scored, and six RBIs.
Great Falls struck first on an RBI single by Trey Cruz in the opening inning and added another run on Cruz's solo home run in the third to take a 2-0 lead.
The Range Riders answered in the fifth, rallying for three runs to take their first lead of the night. RBI singles from Rover and Collins highlighted the inning as Glacier moved in front 3-2.
Rover's two-run homer in the eighth helped the Range Riders pull away and secure their eighth win in their first 10 games, matching the best start in franchise history.
Aidan Elfering earned his first professional win after turning in six strong innings. The right-hander allowed just two runs on six hits while striking out five and issuing no walks. Alex Bustamante added a scoreless inning of relief, and Jack Maruskin recorded the save.
