Casserilla’s Two Homers Power Range Riders Past Voyagers, 8-5
KALISPELL, MT - Xavier Casserilla belted two solo home runs and drove in a pair as the Glacier Range Riders defeated the Great Falls Voyagers 8-5 on Wednesday night at Glacier Bank Park.
Casserilla launched his first homer to center field in the second inning, kickstarting a four-run frame. Kyle Ashworth followed with a two-run single, and Gabe Howell added an RBI groundout to give the Range Riders an early lead.
Casserilla struck again in the seventh, sending a solo shot over the left-field wall to extend Glacier's lead. He finished the day with two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
Great Falls cut into the deficit in the eighth with a two-run homer by Kody Putnam, but the Range Riders' bullpen held firm.
Luke Schafer picked up the win for Glacier, tossing six strong innings. He allowed just one unearned run on six hits, striking out six and walking three. Luke Helton took the loss for the Voyagers, giving up seven runs on eight hits over 5.2 innings. Nick Zegna closed out the game to earn the save.
The Range Riders racked up 11 hits in the win. Logan Beard led the way with a 3-for-5 performance, while Ashworth went 2-for-4 with three RBIs from the nine spot in the order. Jack Lynch and Casserilla also chipped in with multi-hit games. Defensively, Glacier turned two double plays.
Great Falls collected 10 hits of their own. Putnam, Freddy Rojas Jr., Roman Kuntz, and Emilio Corona each had two hits, with Putnam and Kuntz driving in two runs apiece. The Voyagers played clean defense, committing no errors, with Armando Albert recording a team-high seven chances in the field.
