Range Riders Chase Down Chuckars in Comeback Victory
Idaho Falls, ID. – The Glacier Range Riders (12-16) made some more franchise history on Saturday night, with the first ever victory over the Idaho Falls Chukars (17-11) with a narrow 4-3 victory on the road.
It was Brandt Broussard who had his name all over this one as the Chukar starter was perfect through the first eight batters before Broussard finally got to him by reaching on a walk in the third. That sparked a two-out rally that ended with Broussard scoring on an error and Ben McConnell coming across on a Sam Linscott single that tied the game at two. Immediately after, Idaho Falls took the lead back scoring a run on a Glacier error in the bottom of the inning.
The Range Riders refused to let another deficit defeat them, though, and when Broussard reached base again in the fifth, he was again brought across, this time on a sac fly from Ryan Cash. In the next inning, Livingston Morris ripped a double down the right field line, and Justin Mazzone followed that hit up with a base knock that brought in Morris just before the throw came in and the lead was officially in the hands of the Range Riders.
Noah Barros had another masterful pitching performance on the mound, throwing six innings and allowing just two earned runs. He handed over the game to Isaiah Henry, who made his return to Idaho Falls for the first time since winning the 2019 PBL championship with the Chukars as an outfielder, and Henry pitched two hitless innings. Austin Steinfort came on for the save and was perfect in the bottom of the ninth, going three up and three down to clinch the dub.
The Range Riders and the Chukars finish their three-game series today when they battle at 4 PM at Melaleuca Field.
